How I Got Sleep As A New Mom
Disclosure: Leesa® provided a free product for us to review. However, all opinions stated
here are my own.
After having a baby one of the most overheard sentences you hear from friends and family is... "I hope you're getting enough rest" and, "remember to sleep when the baby sleeps".
I don't know about you, but between trying to figure out this new "mom" thing, breastfeeding and snuggles, I hardly ever got any sleep. I'm not gunna lie, I felt like a milk factory for the first few months. As soon as I was done feeding, I'd get a quick bite to eat, MAYBE a shower and then Koda would wake up and it was time to feed again. It was like groundhog day.
I remember handing the baby off to my husband one day thinking I'd to try this whole "sleep when the baby sleeps" thing. Yeah, it didn't work. It's so freaking hard to sleep during the day, even with the blinds shut. My body just wouldn't cooperate. Getting a quick 20 minute nap just wasn't in the cards for me.
And between waking up every hour or so to feed the baby, it was near impossible to get any sleep during the night. By the time I'd lay back down and finally fall asleep, it was feeding time AGAIN. Those little monsters can eat!
So when Leesa® sent a mattress my way to try out... I was super excited, to say the least. I took one look at my mattress and realized it HAD to go. It looked like a freaking hotdog bun as soon as someone laid in it. No joke, I'd lay down and roll in the middle (it ate me alive). Every time the hubby and I would lay down for the night, I'd find myself squeezed next to him in the middle (I love you, but I need my space).
So the more I researched the Leesa® mattress, the more I fell in love with it. First off, I order online and get it shipped right to my front door in a box? No more spending hours in a mattress store walking around aimlessly trying to pretend I know exactly what I'm looking for! (sweet)
They're 100% American made and donate one mattress to a shelter for every ten they sell. Sounds like my kinda brand. I'm sold!
But here's where I fell in love... it has 3 premium foam layers. 1) Avena™ foam top layer for cooling and breathability 2) memory foam middle layer for body contouring and pressure relief and 3) dense core support foam for durability and structure for sleepers of all sizes. My hubby's a hot sleeper and I need my support (I sleep on my side).
So after placing my order online, I anxiously waited for it to arrive on my doorstep. It came within just a few days. And I couldn't believe a mattress fit in this box. Am I being punked?
And before my hubby got home I pulled it into our bedroom, took it out of the box, put it on our bed base and opened it up. Without needing a second pair of hands, heck yes! I'm not gunna lie, the hubby was impressed. You can watch the unboxing process below.
My 5 year old daughter Allie was so excited that when her friend Lili came over, she told her all about "mommy's new comfy mattress" and insisted on watching Curious George and having snacks until dad got home lol.
It's seriously amazing how much a difference a good quality mattress can make. Ever since setting this baby up, I've had no problem sneaking in a 20 min nap here and there throughout the day. And between night feedings, I'm not tossing around trying to get comfy, I lay down and am out. No more feeling like a mom zombie... high five!
Seriously, my husband hates watching movies in our bed now because he knows as soon as I lay down... I'm snoring 5 minutes later. To say this mattress saved my mommy sanity, would be an understatement. And when Allie sneaks into bed with us at night, we don't all roll on top of each other anymore. Allie says... "oooh mommy, I have my own space now" haha.
So for all you moms out there looking for a good nights rest, for real... this mattress is your answer :) I can't rave about it enough.
